PM, Sonia congratulate India`s new President Pranab Mukherjee
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi Sunday congratulated Pranab Mukherjee on his election as India`s 13th president.

New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi along with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday congratulated Pranab Mukherjee on his election as India`s 13th president.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by his wife Gursharan Kaur who reached Pranab Mukherjee`s 13 Talkatora Road residence to greet him immediately after his big win.
Sonia Gandhi and her son and party general secretary Rahul Gandhi also reached Pranab`s residence to congratulate him. Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar also reached there to congratulate Mukherjee.
`Pranab Da` secured 7,13,763 vote value in Presidential Election 2012, well ahead of the half-way mark of 5,25,140 in an electoral college of over 10.5 lakh.
His rival PA Sangma, supported by some opposition parties including BJP, could manage get only 3,15,987 vote value, according to Rajya Sabha Secretary General VK Agnihotri. The new President will be administered the oath of office by Chief Justice of India SH Kapadia on July 25.
