New Delhi: Indian tennis ace Leander Paes is justifying the adage that 'age is just a number'. With three mixed doubles majors this season, the 42-year-old, has proved that he still has it in him to win more majors in the years to come.
The ageless warrior feels that the key behind his success is to stay healthy and fit. While talking with Hindustan Times he stated: “I work my butt off trying to stay healthy and fit. It’s the part of tennis I still like. It’s not about winning big tournaments.”
When it comes to age factor, Peas seems to be impressed with tennis legend Martina Navratilova as he told the newspaper: “The tennis ball does not question my age, it responds to what my racquet says....Who told Martina Navratilova that at the age of 49 she wasn't going to win a Grand Slam?
“The tennis ball or history does not understand age; it understands spin and the effort that goes into making it do what you want. I write my own history.” added Paes, who has been representing the nation for last 25 years.
