Sania Mirza-Barbora Strycova thrash Chen Liang-Zhaoxuan Yang in straights to win Japan Open
Sania Mirza-Barbora Strycova defeated Chen Liang-Zhaoxuan 6-1, 6-1.
New Delhi: India's Sania Mirza and her Czech partner Barbora Strycova defeated Chen Liang and Zhaoxuan Yang 6-1, 6-1 in the finals of the Toray Pan Pacific Open.
The second seeded Indo-Czech pair secure a massively easy win in the final, considering they scraped throug the opening round of the tournament which could have gone either way.
This is Sania and Strycova's second title in three tournaments since they have paired together.
Last month, Indo-Czech pair won the Cincinnati Open title with a 7-5 6-4 win in the final against her previous partner Martina Hingis and Coco Vandeweghe. However, the pair were ousted from the US Open after losing in straight sets in the quarterfinal to Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic.
Sania has won eight WTA titles so far this year, including the Australian Open with former partner Martina Hingis. She also claimed wins at the Brisbane International, Sydney International, St. Petersburg, Italian Open and Connecticut Open.
In total, she has now won 40 doubles titles in her career.
