Gael Monfils claimed a 6-4, 6-2, 7-6 win over Giles Muller in the first round of US Open.

New Delhi: French tennis star Gael Monfils eased into the second round of US Open with a straight-sets victory over Gilles Muller.

Monfils might have claimed an easy passage into the next round, but it wasn't an all-easy affair for him on court.

While attempting to return one of the shots from Muller, the Frenchman went on to hit the on-court clock, which fell on him but gladly he escaped an injury.
