Interestingly, the two principle protagonists of the tennis world preferred a very different surface to play on in run up to the all-important tournament.

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic and 14-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal on Sunday tried their hand at beach tennis.

The Serb and the Spaniard were seen exchanging volleys on the beach in a video uploaded by Djokovic on social micro-blogging site Twitter.

In 2015, Djokovic dominated the men's circuit with three Grand Slam wins, even crushing Nadal at the French Open.

Nadal's form has taken a severe hit of late and the left-hander has promised to make a comeback in 2016, while Djokovic looks set to replicate his great show from last year.
