Hyderabad: Nine Congress and two Telugu Desam Party legislators were suspended from Telangana Assembly for a day for disrupting the proceedings of the House.

As soon as the house met for the day, the members of main Opposition Congress were up on their feet demanding a discussion on their adjournment motion on defection of MLAs from other parties to ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS).


As the speaker rejected their adjournment motion, the legislators trooped into the well of the house.


Amid the uproar, Harish Rao moved a resolution for their suspension for one day. The speaker announced their suspension and asked them to leave the house.


Congress leader K. A. Jana Reddy termed the suspension as unfortunate. He said never in the past such action was taken against the members without a warning.


The opposition parties were unhappy over the delay that in disqualification of defected MLAs.


The speaker said the matter was under his consideration and members should wait for his decision.


More than a dozen legislators of opposition parties have crossed over to TRS during last two years.
