It was on this day in 2014 that Telangana was carved out of Andhra Pradesh as India`s 29th state.

At the main official function at Secunderabad Parade Ground here, Chandrasekhar Rao unfurled the national flag and reviewed a colourful ceremonial parade.

He reached the venue after paying tributes at Telangana martyrs` memorial at Gun Park near the Assembly building.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that despite being rich in undivided state, Telangana never saw development. But after becoming a separate state and in a short span of three years, it had made rapid progress in all sectors.

He said Telangana was on the path of development to fulfil people`s aspirations.

Quoting the report of Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG), he said Telangana topped revenue growth rate in the country in 2016-17 at 17.82 percent.
