- Azam Khan is the Samajwadi Party candidate contesting from Rampur. Khan, who is the Cabinet minister in UP govt, has ruled over for much since the last four decades.

 While Tanveer Khan, a prominent doctor by profession, represents BSP contesting against the long-standing MLA for eight terms.

- Reportedly, the controversial leader in Jal Nigam case failed to appear before the court on at least three occasions and this led to the refusal of Supreme Court to grant relief to him.
