New Delhi: Even though, exit polls are predicting a hung Assembly in Uttar Pradesh with the BJP at the head of a splintered verdict, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Friday exuded confidence in Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance of winning the crucial elections.

While speaking to the reporters, the Gandhi scion said, “SP-Congress alliance is winning, such exit polls were seen in Bihar also.”


Rahul's statement comes a day after four exit poll surveys predicted a hung Assembly for UP, with BJP emerging as the largest party, two exit polls have said that the saffron party will sweep the elections.


Times Now-VMR poll forecast 190-210 seats for the BJP in the UP assembly, while India News-MRC gave it 185 and ABP- Lokniti CSDS 164-176 seats.


The three polls projected 110-130, 120 and 156-169 seats respectively for the Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance and 57-74, 90 and 60-72 seats for the Mayawati-led BSP.


Zee News polls of polls said BJP would win 219 seats in UP, Congress 122 and BSP.


Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday said he won't allow the BJP to "remote control" Uttar Pradesh in the event of a hung assembly, hinting at possible alliances.
