The apex court said that the trial has to be completed in two years, adding that day-to-day hearing would continue in a Lucknow court.

Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh, who enjoys constitutional immunity, has been given certain relief from the top court.

Besides Advani, MM Joshi, Uma Bharti and several others will now face trial on criminal conspiracy charges in the matter.

The apex court also ordered that no adjournment would be given under normal circumstances, adding that no judge hearing the case would be transferred.

Here are top political reactions to the case:-

Pramod Tiwari, Congress

I respect Supreme Court for this decision; BJP tried its best to save the leaders but all failed.

GVLN Rao, BJP spokesperson

We will study the court order on LK Advani, Uma Bharti, MM Joshi and others till then we can't say anything.

Vinay Katiyar, BJP MP

There is no need for Uma Bharti to resign in the wake of apex court ruling as the charges against her are baseless. We want Ram Mandir to be built soon and are ready to go to jail for the cause.

Shaina NC, BJP

Ram Temple will be built only by consensus and or court order. We need to move beyond politics on Ram Mandir.

Kailash Vijayvargiya, BJP

We will discuss the issue, but I don't think we need to take action against our leaders.

Utkarsh Anand

There will definitely be a demand for (Uma Bharti's) resignation in such serious allegations.
