Criminal contempt case against Uttarakhand High Court judge Lokpal Singh for alleged derogatory remarks against lawyers
A case of criminal contempt has been filed in the Uttarakhand High Court against Justice Lokpal Singh for allegedly using inappropriate language against lawyers, including a former judge and a woman lawyer.
Nainital: A case of criminal contempt has been filed in the Uttarakhand High Court against Justice Lokpal Singh for allegedly using inappropriate language against lawyers, including a former judge and a woman lawyer.
The case against Justice Singh has been filed by an advocate CK Sharma.
The petition has been filed in light of remarks made by Singh against Sharma and his colleague Soniya, according to Bar & Benches.
Lawyers at the Uttarakhand High Court at Nainital had earlier boycotted the court of Justice Lokpal Singh, in protest against alleged misbehaviour towards the Bar members.
The protests reportedly began after Justice Singh made disparaging remarks against the lawyers and also imposed a penalty of Rs 2 lakh on them following which the Uttarakhand High Court Bar Association called for boycotting the Court No 7.
The boycott of the court of Justice Lokpal Singh was later called off following assurances from the judge.
