Tribal guerillas gunned down a tea garden worker, shot at another and looted workers' payment after attacking a tea estate in west Tripura last night. Police said in Agartala on Thursday the armed militants attacked the Narendrapur tea estate when the workers were taking their weekly wages. The ultras shot dead a worker on the spot and injured another. The rebels also looted about Rs one lakh before leaving the spot. Since 1998, the tribal rebels have attacked the garden for the third time. Earlier, the extremists killed five workers, kidnapped the manager and looted the cash from this garden.
Senior police officials along with additional security forces had reached to the spot and launched a massive combing operation to nab the militants. In another incident three people were seriously injured when All Tripura Bengal Security Force cadres threw bombs at them at Salema in Dhalai district last night. However, local people managed to nab one of the ATBSF member on the spot.
The injured were taken to the hospital.
