Commonwealth bronze medallist Chetan Baboor and national champion S Raman will battle it out against the Dutch pair of Danny Heister and Trinko Keen in the Table Tennis doubles opener on Saturday. The Indian duo will subsequently be pitted against the Nigerians Sequn Toriola and Nosiru Kazeem in Group 'B' for a place in the 16-team main draw and for Chetan and Raman, who fetched a gold at the Commonwealth Games, it should not be much of a task. Playing his third successive Olympics, Baboor has been placed in Group 'C' along with Czech Republic's Petr Korbel and New Zealand's Peter Jackson for the preliminaries in the singles. The number one Indian will start his campaign against Petr Korbel on September 17 at 6:30 pm IST. He will face Peter Jackson next day at 4:30 pm IST. In the women's section, Poulomi Ghatak is in Pool 'L' along with France's Anne Boileau and Belarus's Veronika Pavlovich.
Poulomi meets Pavlovich on September 17 and Boileau next day at 10:30 pm IST.
