Jalpaiguri, Aug 31: Kalyani, a powerful leader from North Bengal, said on Wednesday that the Congressmen in the State were frustrated at the ‘soft attitude’ of the party high command towards the CPM. “The CPM is the first enemy of West Bengal`s Congress, but its high command was soft towards the Communist party and this has frustrated us,” Kalyani said. ``It seemed the high command had some hidden agreements with the CPM hoping to grab power at the Centre. But that would be at the cost of party workers in West Bengal.” In the past 23 years of Left front rule, many Congress members had been killed by the CPM in the State,`` Kalyani alleged. He said to protest against this, he would “join the Trinamool Congress headed by Mamta Banerjee on Sept 3” and before that “I shall send my resignation letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi”. He said he had a talk with Mamta in New Delhi regarding joining her party and she had appreciated the proposal —UNI
