The cricketer says in the video that instead of debating on the causes of pollution, we need to ask ourselves as to what we are doing to combat it.

“Agar hamein yeh match jeetna hai pollution ke against, toh hum sab ko saath mein mil ke khelna hoga,” this is the message of the cricketing genius for Delhiites.

Kohli urged people to use bus and metro instead of their own vehicles. The video has been titled “Delhi, we need to talk”, and accompanied a hashtag #MujheFarakPadtaHai.

Air quality in Delhi and adjoining areas witnessed a sudden spike in pollution levels in the beginning of November. While the health department termed it as an emergency, environmentalists also raised alarm.

Having blamed crop burning in adjoining states in the past, CM Arvind Kejriwal met Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar in Chandigarh on Wednesday. Both politicians in a joint statement said they would take all possible steps to ensure that pollution levels in 2018 is kept under check. The prevailing situation though remains grim.

The NCR though is not alone in breathing poison. Several cities in northern India have had very poor air quality for most parts of November.
