Islamic State claims responsibility for suicide attacks in southern Iraq: Amaq
A car bomb in the same area targeted a security checkpoint shortly afterward, according to interior ministry spokesman Saad Maan.
Baghdad: Islamic State has claimed suicide attacks that killed at least 50 people and injured more than 80 in a southern Iraqi city on Thursday.
A statement on the Amaq news agency, which supports the hardline Sunni Muslim group, said the attacks carried out by the its suicide fighters targeted a restaurant and a checkpoint, killing "dozens of Shi`ites".
