Washington: A large number of demonstrators entered the Macedonian parliament, breaking the police cordon and assaulted the MPs, in protest against the election of a new speaker.

As per the Guardian, score of protestor, wearing masks, stormed into the parliament on Thursday, after the opposition Social Democrat party and ethnic Albanian allies voted for a new speaker.


Television footage showed opposition leader Zoran Zaev with blood trickling from one side of his forehead.


The county has been without a government since December last year, after former prime minister Nikola Gruevski's conservative party won elections, but missed the opportunity to win majority of seats to form a government.
