New Delhi: If you have installed WhatsApp on your Android and would like to save your data by stopping auto downloading of pictures, audio or video files on phone then these are the following steps you have to follow:

Step 1: Go to ‘Settings‘ and then tap on ‘Chats and calls‘.

Step 2: After going into the ‘Chats and calls’ settings, tap on the ‘Media auto-download‘ option, Now, you have to select if you want the mobile data or Wi-Fi for downloading or whether you would like to download while roaming or not.

Step 3: To configure auto-download settings for Mobile Data, tap on ‘When using mobile data‘ and then un-check the other options.

For example: if you would like to auto download only when using Wi-Fi, then tap on ‘When connected on Wi-Fi‘ to configure the auto-download settings for Wi-Fi and then un-check the boxes against the media type that you don’t want to get automatically downloaded.

However, you will not have an option to select whether or not you can download the voice messages automatically as they are always automatically downloaded.
