Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Thursday said that recent political developments in Bihar is not a sign of healthy democracy.

“Jo kuch ho raha hai loktantra ke liye shubh sanket nahi (Whatever is happening is not a sign of healthy democracy),” said Mayawati.


“Desh ki aam janta ko aage aakar loktantra ko kamzor hone se bachana hoga (The common man must step forward and stop this disintegration of the democracy,” she further added, reported news agency ANI.


On Wednesday evening, Nitish Kumar stunned by resigning from the post of Bihar Chief Minister, effectively ending Janata Dal (United) or JD(U)'s 20-month alliance with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). He went on to form a coalition with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and became the chief minister of Bihar for the sixth time today morning.


The Nitish Kumar government will seek a trust vote on Friday.
