New Delhi: After making a successful Bollywood debut with Ranjhanaa', Dhanush now wants to try his hands at directing Hindi films.

The actor received a lot of critical acclaim for his performance of an obsessive lover, Kundan Shankar, in the Anand L Rai-directed film.
The actor says the film helped him reach a wider audience and he is now planning to increase his sway further by venturing into direction in Bollywood.


"'Ranjhana' and 'Shamitabh' really gave me a wider exposure to Hindi-speaking audience. And post that, I got to know how it works here. I'm happy that the kind of films I'm doing right now is reaching a wider audience and I'm looking forward to direct Hindi films as well," he says.


There is no stopping for Dhanush as the actor is also prepping for his Hollywood debut alongside Erin Moriarty, Barkhad Abdi, Berenice Bejo and Sarah-Jeanne Labrosse with a film titled 'The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir'.


'I can't ask for more. It has been a great journey from where I started to where I am today. I am really blessed and it's just that world has become smaller now. The exposure is much wider.'


"Few years ago, it was completely different. Now you go to any country, city or continent and just say 'Bollywood' and they will know. So, it means everybody is watching everything."


The actor says he feels fortunate to be a part of the film industry at a time when artistes are getting more and more chance to experiment with their characters.


Dhanush will next be seen in 'VIP 2' alongside Kajol.


'Velaiilla Pattadhari 2' popularly referred to as VIP 2 is a sequel to the 2014 film 'VIP'. While the 'Raanjhanaa' star is reprising his role as Raghuvaran, Kajol will be seen playing Vasundhara Parameshwar.
