The hunk of a superstar took to Twitter Friday morning to announce the trailer launch.

He tweeted: “And it's on the way! #PadManTrailer out today at 11:00 am. @PadManTheFilm @sonamakapoor @radhika_apte @mrsfunnybones @SonyPicsIndia @kriarj #RBalki (sic).”

Padman written and directed by R Balki of the Cheeni Kum and Paa fame, also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte. Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan will make a special appearance in the film.

Producer Twinkle had written about Padman aka Arunachalam Muruganantham in a short story titled The Sanitary Man from A Scared Land in her second novel The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad. Arunachalam, a Padma Shri awardee played a pivotal role in creating awareness about menstrual hygiene in rural India and took upon himself the task of manufacturing cost-effective sanitary pads.

During an interview with BBC, Twinkle while talking about menstruation and the taboo attached to it worldwide said that it took her a lot of time to convince Arunachalam to give her his consent for making the film. It was only after repeated requests, the man, who keeps low key, agreed to give his nod.

Talking about the project, the debutante film producer, during another interview said, “It's a wonderful project. It's a film which will bring awareness about something which has so far been cloaked and shamed and I am very happy to be a part of the film (sic).”

The film is slated to release on January 26, 2018.
