During an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Deepika said, “Yes, people are allowed to express themselves without having even seen the film. And having worked in the film, I can assure you it's one film every Indian will be proud of. I'm glad we are showcasing Padmaviti's journey. Her story needs to be told not just to people in this country but across the world.”

Reacting to the threats she has received from a few people, Deepika said, “Well, at this point, as a woman, an artiste and a citizen of this country I feel angry, I feel let down and I also find it amusing.”

“I will never feel scared. Fear is not an emotion I have ever identified with,” she added.

For the uninitiated, a politician had announced Rs 10 crore bounty to anyone beheading director of Padmavati Sanjay Leela Bhansali and actor Deepika Padukone. Someone else had even said that Deepika’s nose should be cut.

Deepika’s Padmavati, which also stars Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji, hasn’t yet got clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification. The magnum opus which was initially slated to release on December 1 has been deferred indefinitely.
