According to sources close to the actress, Deepika has started rigorous preparation to get into the skin of Sapna Didi aka Rahima Khan, the mafia queen who was once a threat to all the other gangsters in Mumbai in the early 80s.

Quoting a source close to the actress, Indian Express wrote,  “Deepika has already started the preparation for her role of a Mafia queen and she is quite particular that she gets the tonality and body language as close to the late Sapna Didi who was once a terror for other gangsters. The shoot will begin by early March in Mumbai. After Padmaavat, her fans will love to see her in a whole new avatar of a lady don and hence she is really working meticulously to strike the right chord.”

The film also stars Irrfan Khan in a pivotal role. He plays Deepika's husband in the film and also plays the gangster named 'Kaliya'. This is not the first time when Irrfan and Deepika are paired opposite each other, their chemistry was much-loved in 'Piku'. Keeping that in mind the fans would be eager to see them playing 80s gangsters in 'Rani'
