The car features a Rs 39.90 lakhs (Ex-showroom Delhi) price tag, which will definitely help it go head-to-head with the likes of BMW 3-Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-class.

Jaguar XE is available in 2 petrol variants. The standard 2.0-litre petrol unit produces 200PS of power and 320Nm of peak torque, whereas the turbocharged 2.0-litre powerplant delivers 240PS of power output and 340Nm of peak torque.

To put things in perspective, one must understand that the arch rivals of XE like BMW 3-Series and Audi A4 deliver relatively inferior power outputs of 187PS and 177PS respectively.

Rohit Suri, president of Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd, said, "The most-awaited Jaguar XE has hit the Indian roads today with its powerful stance and seductive looks. To meet the growing demand for petrol-powered vehicles, we have introduced the Jaguar XE in two petrol engine derivatives. This will also enable us to enter a new industry segment and make Jaguar more accessible to our customers."
