Vigilance bureau gets 10-day extension to search Badal properties
Kharar (Punjab), July 19: A local court here today granted 10-day extension to the Punjab Vigilance Bureau for completing the search of various properties reportedly owned by the family of former Punjab chief minister and Shiromani Akali Dal president Parkash Singh Badal in different parts of the country.

Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate Baljinder Kaur Bhatia issued these orders on an application moved by the bureau seeking 15-day extension in the warrants returnable till July 20 already issued by a Kharar court to search 14 different properties owned by the Badal's family.
In an application moved before the court, the Superintendent of Police of vigilance bureau submitted that on June 27 and July 4, 14 search warrants were issued by Kharar court in connection with a corruption disproportionate assets cases registered against Badal and others at Mohali police station on June 2 and 4.
It was further submitted that of the total 14 properties, for the search of which warrants were procured, seven were searched and it was in progress in remaining seven properties which was expected to take some more time.
The VB contended that two separate residences in Sector 9 and 5, Chandigarh, two SCOs in Sector 9, Chandigarh, a poultry farm in Pallanpur village under Kharar sub-division, an ancestral residential house in Badal village, a motor company in Dabwali, a bank building and a petrol pump in Killianwali village had already been searched.
Expressing inability to complete search operations till July 20, returnable till when the search warrants were issued, the VB sought 15-day term extension.
