Jerusalem, Dec 29: As the US dispatched its first contingent of a planned 1,000-strong force to Israel to help bolster the defence against Iraqi missile attacks, Israel is tightening the security on international flights from its airports amid increased warnings about possible terror acts in the air.
Anticipating an American attack on Iraq and possible Iraqi strike against the Jewish state, a special security forum is convening today to decide on further measures to secure Israel's airspace and the aircraft in it.
The nature of the measures will be kept confidential, 'Ha'aretz' newspaper reported.
The transport ministry's security section has been conducting undercover inspections in foreign airliners flying to and from 0to check on their security level, the daily said, adding that last week an undercover Israeli inspector flying to Israel's Ben-Gurion international airport managed to enter the cockpit of a European airline plane and chat with the pilot with no difficulty.
Israel's civil administration would summon the airline management in this regard.

Israel, which has one of the toughest security measures at its airports and flights, has so far cautioned six foreign airlines for failing to stick to security regulations on their regular flights to and from Israel.
Israel has sought to develop a joint project with the US on a new anti-missile system to protect civilian airplanes and Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has already approved a recommendation by his defence minister Shaul Mofaz in this regard.
