Hero MotoCorp hopes to become No.1 in scooters

Kolkata: Leaders in motorcycle manufacturing, Hero MotoCorp is now eyeing a pole position in the scooter segment also, a top company official said here on Monday.

With its market share in scooters going up to 20 percent from 13 percent three months back, the company`s head (national sales) A. Srinivasu said: "We now aspire for leadership in the scooter segment also."

However, he refused to provide any timeframe within which the company hopes to reach the number one position in scooters.

Honda is now the leader in the scooter segment with a market share of over 50 percent.

In motorcycles, Hero MotoCorp has a 53.4 percent market share.

The company launched the 110 cc metal body Duet here on Monday.
