Piaggio launches Aprilia SR 150 in India priced at Rs 65,000
Coming to the geography from the Aprilia portfolio the Aprilia SR 150 is targeted at patrons looking for the sensation of sports bikes coupled with the convenience of automatic scooters, Piaggio India said in a statement.
Mumbai: Italian two-wheeler maker Piaggio, manufacturer of Vespa scooters, Monday launched 150cc-Aprilia SR 150 crossover bike priced at Rs 65,000 (ex-showroom).
Coming to the geography from the Aprilia portfolio the Aprilia SR 150 is targeted at patrons looking for the sensation of sports bikes coupled with the convenience of automatic scooters, Piaggio India said in a statement.
The gearless product is being manufactured at Piaggio's plant in Baramati.
"It is with great pleasure and humble anticipation that we finally launch the Aprilia SR 150 today and extend our India product portfolio," Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd (PVPL) Managing Director and CEO Stefano Pelle said.
"Here at Piaggio India, we have all been waiting with baited breath to extend the Aprilia experience from the race track to the streets of India with the Aprilia SR 150," he said.
With this truly unique and powerful crossover, the company is confident about creating yet another first in India's two-wheeler segment, he added.
The Aprilia is the country's first 150-cc gearless sporty crossover bike, Pelle said.
Piaggio India is a 100 per cent subsidiary of Piaggio Group founded in 1884 which is leader in the European two- wheeler market.
It manufactures scooters and motorcycles as well as three- and four-wheelers. Its portfolio of brands includes Piaggio, Vespa, Aprilia, Moto Guzzi and Ape.
With 294 Grand Prixes in Road Racing World Championship, the Aprilia holds the record for the most wins of any European company in the history of maximum motorcycle competitions, apart from holding 54 world titles, including seven in superbiking and nine in offroad disciplines.
