Star-rated cars may hit the market before end of the year

New Delhi: If you think of saving electricity, you may consider higher star ratings in a  refrigerator important. Soon you would also have the option of buying a star-rated cars indicating their fuel efficiency.

The Times of India reported that in the next six to seven months, manufacturers may start putting star ratings in the car, indicating the fuel efficiency of each model.

You may not have to go by the dealers' claim on the mileage efficiency of any model.The road transport highways ministry has begun the process in which vehicles will be rated from one to five, depending on their fuel efficiency.

These star rating stickers will be tamper proof and will be put on the cars by the manufacturer or importer of the brand.
