Milan, June 09: Champions League winners AC Milan have revealed they have made England captain David Beckham their top transfer target. Beckham now looks certain to leave Manchester United after they confirmed they had "firm interest" from clubs in Spain and Italy.
Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta has expressed his desire to take Beckham to the Nou Camp if he is elected. But Milan may now be in prime position to fend off any late interest from Real Madrid to clinch a potential £30m deal.
Milan vice-chairman Adriano Galliani said: "Beckham is our primary target. We are pursuing our objective and will do everything in our power to get him."
Speculation has been rife over Beckham's future all summer and United recently revealed they have received several enquiries regarding the 28-year-old. The Old Trafford hierarchy confirmed: "Manchester United can confirm that clubs from Italy and Spain have expressed a firm interest in signing David Beckham.
"David's advisers SFX have also been approached by clubs independently and we are in regular and close contact with them regarding the status on those discussions, which are ongoing."
