Imphal, Oct 05: President A P J Abdul Kalam on Saturday stressed the need for continued progress in science and technology, especially space science, noting that about 10,000 scientists are engaged in space research in the country.
Interacting with students at the Raj Bhavan here before leaving for Delhi, Kalam said that his 'guru' Vikram Sarabhai had wanted to develop space technology to a great extent by 1965 and the scientists were working to achieve that goal.

The President told the students that the brain drain was not a problem and viewed that as a sharing of knowledge between nations.

He told the students that their hopes and aspirations should be turned into a reality through hard work.

Kalam also told students of the Central Agricultural University who called on him that agricultural scientists should work for producing high quality agricultural commodoties. Bureau Report
