New Delhi, May 07: Pakistan today dismissed suggestions that Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali`s announcement of confidence building measures with India were "inadequate", saying these were far larger than those announced by Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. "The list of confidence building measures announced by the prime minister of Pakistan is far larger than what was announced by the Prime Minister of India," Pakistan foreign minister Khurshid Mohammad Kasuri told a news channel over phone from Islamabad. "We appreciate the statesmanship shown by the Prime Minister of India and expect that the people of India and the government display a greater degree of generosity towards what the prime minister of Paksitan has said," Kasuri said.
Official sources in Delhi termed as "completely inadequate" Jamali`s announcements yesterday for restoration of air and surface transport links and diplomatic ties with India. Also, India accused Pakistan of trying to divert attention from the issue of cross-border terrorism, which found no mention in Pak response. The Pakistan foreign minister also said that it was in the interest of the people of Pakistan and India to get closer to each other instead of finding faults with the measures announced by Islamabad.
