Patiala, May 29: The vigilance bureau today arrested chief electrical inspector of Punjab State Electricity Board Triloki Nath Sharma for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 in his office. The vigilance bureau flying squad raided Sharma's house here late this afternoon on a complaint of one Jaswinder Pal Singh of Ludhiana who alleged that the inspector had demanded Rs 55,000 to clear the connection of generator transformer and installation of an electricity meter at his premises. According to Singh, Sharma had already received two installments of the agreed amount when the raid was conducted today, the vigilance source said. Later the vigilance sleuths raided Sharma's house and recovered cash worth Rs 22 lakh, about half a kg gold, blank cheques and documents pertaining to properties in Solan, Noida, Jagadhri and Ambala besides a showroom in Chandigarh, DIG, vigilance bureau, B K Uppal said. A case under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against Sharma. Bureau Report
