New Delhi, Oct 25: Apparently not sharing Samajwadi Party's enthusiasm about an alternative in Uttar Pradesh following rumblings in the state's ruling BSP-BJP coalition, the Congress today said it was upto SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav to approach party president Sonia Gandhi on the issue of forging a common front to dislodge Mayawati government. Asked if Congress was willing to support Samajwadi Party in dislodging BSP-BJP government in UP, party spokesman Anand Sharma said this was the desire expressed by Yadav and the Congress president would respond at an appropriate time.
However, he said the Congress has not yet seen any development that the BSP-BJP government was tottering.
Sharma said the Congress would disclose its strategy only after the "opportunistic alliance" between BSP-BJP collapses.

On the senior party leader Ram Niwas Mirdha favouring support to Samajwadi Party in UP, Sharma said he is the senior leader of the party and has expressed his personal view.
"Congress working committee has not taken any decision on the matter", he said.
Asked about Yadav expressing willingness to talk to Gandhi to seek congress support to form an alternative government in Uttar Pradesh, Sharma said "political dialogues between the leaders of two political parties should be through personal meeting and not (not) through media". Bureau Report
