New Delhi, Oct 22: Ace Indian golfer Arjun Atwal has extended his lead at the top of the Asian PGA tour Order of Merit after his third place finish in the Macau Open on Sunday.
Atwal pocketed usd 15,500 for his fine effort and now leads second-placed Zhang Lian-Wei of China by USD 78,174 in the race to finish the year as Asia's number one, according to a press issued by the Asian PGA here today.
The Indian star, who won the European tour-sanctioned Carlsberg Malaysian Open in February, has, so far, accumulated USD 233,743 in this season.
The Asian PGA tour heads to China this week for the inaugural Sanya Open at the spectacular Yalong Bay Golf Club on Hainan Island.
The new event will offer a total prize money of USD 200,000 and this week's field will include five players Brad Kennedy, Simon Yates, Thaworn Wiratchant, Rick Gibson and Lin Wen-Ko from the current top-10 of the merit list.



The top-60 players on the order of merit list following the Omega Hong Kong Open will qualify for the Volvo Masters of Asia, to be played at Bangkok Golf Club from December 11-14.
