NY, Dec 04: - Britney Spears has set dates for her spring North American tour in support of her new album, "In the Zone," which debuted last week atop the U.S. pop charts. The outing will kick off March 2 in San Diego, and hit 25 cities in the U.S. and Canada through mid-April. Venues have not yet been confirmed. It will cover the U.S. West Coast and major markets in the Midwest and Southeast U.S. and Canada, wrapping April 10 or 12 in New York.
Spears will begin a second leg of shows in outdoor amphitheaters in mid-July, bringing the total dates for the tour to 56.

Tickets to the first leg will go on sale to members of Spears' fan club (http://www.britneyspears.musictoday.com/) starting next week.
"In the Zone" (Jive) slipped two spots to No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart released Wednesday. The disc has sold 860,000 copies in its first two weeks of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
