Chandigarh, Aug 10: To motivate people to fight against the social evils of female foeticide, dowry and child marriage, Haryana government has decided to create a 'core constituency' comprising educated men and women in every village and town for monitoring, identifying and fighting against such evils. In a communication from chief minister Om Prakash Chautala the attention of all MLAs, chairmen of zila parishads and bloc samitis, sarpanches and presidents of municipal councils has been drawn towards various problems being faced by the women and girl children such as mal-nutrition, female foeticide, dowry and low female literacy, according to an official release here.
The help of these public representatives has been sought for minimising these problems, it said, adding the religious leaders, preachers and saints have also been requested to preach against the evil of female foeticide.
