Chandigarh, Aug 24: Haryana government has formulated a Rs 165 crore scheme to protect districts of Jind, Hisar, Sirsa and Fatehabad from the onslaught of floods and seepage. As many as 80 irrigation schemes had been completed and work on 72 such schemes was in progress to strengthen the irrigation system in the state, chief minister om prakash Chautala said inaugurating Khera minor constructed at the cost of Rs 1.6 crore in Bhiwani district, according to an official release here.

Efforts were being made to ensure early completion of Sutlej-Yamuna Link canal so that Haryana's share of water could flow to the state, Chautala said.

He said that the state government had urged the Supreme Court to entrust the task of completion of SYL canal to border roads organisation and get it completed within a year.
Chautala said that the installed capacity of power generation has been increased to 792 mw, which was 30 per cent of the existing installed capacity, during the last three-and-a-half years.
