Chandigarh: Paddy arrivals in Haryana have gone up by 30 per cent to 54.36 lakh metric tonnes (MT) in the current kharif season.

The state witnessed 41.88 lakh MT of paddy arrivals during the corresponding period last year.


Out of the total arrival, government procurement agencies purchased 42.32 lakh MT while over 12.03 lakh MT paddy have been purchased by millers and dealers, a spokesman of the Food and Supplies Department said here.


The Food and Supplies Department has purchased 19.33 lakh MT of paddy, Hafed purchased 14.93 lakh MT, another 4.34 lakh MT was bought by the Haryana Agro-industries Corporation and 3.71 lakh MT by the Haryana Warehousing Corporation, he informed.
