Jaipur, Dec 02: Alleging large scale rigging by BJP in a constituency in Rajasthan's Sawaimadhopur district during yesterday's polling, hundreds of Congress workers led by the party candidate from the seat and her MP husband today ransacked the district collectorate, a senior police official said. Congress candidate from Sawaimadhopur constituency Yasmin Abrar and her husband and MP Abrar Ahmed led Congress workers who forced their entry into the collector's office, superintendent of police Prem Singh told reporters over phone.
When police tried to push the congress workers out, some of them threw stones at the collectorate building, he said.
A few of them might have received minor bruises, but no one turned to make a complaint, Singh said.
As the mob was dispersed later in the evening, Yasmin and Abrar sat on a 'dharna' protesting against BJP candidate Kirori Lal Meena's alleged involvement in rigging, he said. They submitted a memorandum to the collector to this effect.
The Election Commission has ordered repoll at six centres in Sawaimadhopur district which included three centres of Yasmin's constituency.
