Mumbai: Shares of Hindalco Industries and Vedanta on Monday fell by as much as 4 percent after the BSE's announcement that both companies will shift out of the benchmark Sensex from December 21.

Hindalco's scrip dipped 4 percent to Rs 74.20 on BSE and Vedanta fell by 3 percent to Rs 90.35.



Both the scrips were the worst performers on the 30-share benchmark index.


These stocks would be replaced by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone and Asian Paints Ltd.



Adani Ports' scrip gained 3.42 percent to Rs 279.


Similarly, shares of Asian Paints rose by 2.67 percent to Rs 849.


The move is a part of Asia Index Private Ltd's semi- annual reconstitution results.


The Sensex was trading 23.38 points lower at 25,845.11.
