Kathmandu, Oct 21: With a view to impose restrictions on political demonstrations, Nepal government today declared parts of Kathmandu city as restricted areas banning for two months rallies, public meetings and sit-in programmes.
The order which came into effect immediately was passed to maintain law and order and security in the city, the Kathmandu district administration said.
However, political parties alleged the restrictions were imposed to curb the agitation of the five political parties.
Nepali Congress' youth and student wings, Nepal Students' Union and Nepal Tarun Dal were organising protest rallies in the Capital today.
The five agitating parties including Nepali Congress and Nepal Communist Party-UML will organise a protest meeting at the city hall tomorrow against the new order.
