Warangal (AP), Dec 21: Skirting the political fallout of her party's electoral setback in Gujarat, Congress president Sonia Gandhi today made a scathing attack on the NDA government at the Centre and TDP regime in Andhra Pradesh accusing them of failure on all fronts and vowed to launch a struggle against the "repressive regime in the state".
"I have come here to begin a struggle to restore the past glory and to put the state back on the track of progress and development. We have a firm resolve and no one can stop us," she told a massive public meeting in this Naxalite-infested town.
Though it was her first public meeting after the Congress' drubbing in Gujarat, Gandhi made no mention of the political issues that dominated the poll scene there and lashed out at what she termed the "failures" of the BJP-led coalition at the Centre and the Chandrababu Naidu government in the state on economic front.
While Congress governments in the past had worked for progress and development of all sections of the society, the present regimes, both at the Centre and the State, were moving in a regressive mode as reflected by the worsening plight of farmers, Dalits and unemployed youth and collapse of the public sector units, she alleged.
As over a one-lakh strong gathering at the sprawling arts college grounds heard her in rapt attention, Gandhi accused the TDP government of "gross misuse of public funds" meant for various developmental activities while "scores of farmers are committing suicide across the state." Bureau Report
