According to The Verge, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said activity on Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp combined is 60 billion messages a day, i.e. three times the global volume of SMS messages which is 20 billion.
During the F8 developers conference, Zuckerberg told the gathering that Facebook Messenger was the company's fastest growing platform in 2015 and the second most popular app on iOS, The Verge reports.
Considering the growing number of users for both Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp, there is no denying that messages processed could hit such a high.
As per Google Play, both the messaging apps have been downloaded over 1 billion each.
In October 2014, Facebook had bought WhatsApp in a deal worth USD 20 billion.
