New Delhi: Were you shocked when the CBI chief Ranjit Sinha and former Indian skipper Rahul Dravid had favoured legalising sattebaazi or betting in cricket in November last year?

Well, a three-member panel appointed by the Supreme Court on Monday recommended legalising cricket betting in India, while suggesting structural changes to the BCCI to ensure more transparency in its operation.

Let us look at key reasons why betting should be legalised in India:

1) Legalised betting in cricket in India will bring in more revenue to the government.

2) It will reduce corruption in the game: Few forms of gambling like jockeying and Casino already legal in India.

3) It will delink cricket and players from the underworld dons.
