New Delhi: The Union Cabniet on Tuesday is likely to approve the country's “biggest-ever housing plan for government employees” in Delhi, as per a report in a national daily.


The Times of India report said that  government is planning to redevelop “seven low-rise colonies” in New Delhi.


The redevelopment projects will be carried in Nauroji Nagar, Netaji Nagar, Sarojini Nagar, Kasturba Nagar, Thyagraj Nagar, Srinivaspuri and Mohammadpur, the TOI said.


Government also plans to add commercial space at a sprawling eight lakh square meters plot in  these areas to provide housing to its employees.


A total of 26,000 flats will be constructed under the project at a cost of Rs 30,000 crore and is set for completion by 2022.
