The traffic moved at a snail's pace as the downpour caused heavy water-logging in various parts of the city, the ANI reported.

The local administration has identified 15 zones where the situation has dramatically worsened.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister K Palaniswami chaired a high-level meeting to take stock of the situation. He later announced a slew of relief measures for the flood-affected areas.

On Wednesday, two children were electrocuted as a result of the heavy rain.

A leaky wire from a pillar box which was covered in rainwater had led to the electrocution.
