Calf injury forces skipper Angelo Mathews out for rest of Australia series
Lanka have already lost the ODI series 3-1 against Australia following their six-wicket defeat in the fourth match at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Wednesday.
Colombo: Sri Lanka skipper Angelo Mathews has been ruled out of the remaining fixtures in the ongoing series against Australia due to a calf injury.
Although Mathews did not undergo a CT scan for the injury he sustained during the fourth ODI, the team management has confirmed that the skipper would be unavailable for the last ODI and two T20Is, ESPNcricinfo reported.
Meanwhile, all-rounder Thisara Perera and left-arm wrist spinner Lakshan Sandakan have been dropped for the fifth and the final match, which is to be held at Pallekele on Sunday.
Sri Lanka have now brought in Upul Tharanga, Niroshan Dickwella and seam-bowling all-rounder Dasun Shanaka as the replacement for the three players.
