Gugale, who's captaining the Maharashtra team decided to declare their innings at 635 for 2, when First-class world record partnership was well within their reach.

In 2006, Sri Lankan legends Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene stitched a 634-run partnership for the third wicket against South Africa at Colombo. This is the only instance a partnership breached the 600-run mark in First-class cricket.

But the 500-run mark has been breached at least 14 times. Interestingly, Indian spinner Ravindra Jadeja who bats lower down the order, Ravindra Jadeja is the only player beside West Indies legend Frank Worrell to have featured twice in the list. And, it has been achieved only twice in Test cricket, both by Sri Lanka.
