New Delhi: One of the world's most popular cricketers, Virat Kohli has had a scintillating 2016, both on cricket field and now off it. The 28-year-old has featured on Indian edition of Forbes magazine, while grabbing third spot in the list of 'Top 100 Indian Celebrities'.
Kohli defeated the likes of Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, on being chosen as the cover face for the magazine.
Kohli's estimated earnings were Rs 134.44 crore in 2016, as he jumped from No. 7 to No. 3 from last year.
All in all, three sportspersons (all of them cricketers) featured in the list with India's limited overs captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni standing fifth in the list having earned an estimated Rs 122.48 crore, a huge credit of which goes to his biopic on him, 'MS Dhoni- The Untold Story'.
India's Cricketing icon Sachin Tendulkar, despite retiring in 2013 from all the formats of the game, got the No.7 spot overall with his top sources of earnings being brand endorsements and book royalty.
Forbes calculated celebrities' fame by tracking their media visibility across print and television, while also tabulating their social media reach, via Facebook and Twitter.
